An enchanting hideaway on the Amalfi Coast

Set on one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines, celebrated over the centuries by artists and writers, lies the ‘Casa del Capitano’ residence. It overlooks the small town of Conca de Marini, which, along with all the other towns on the coast, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Surrounded by 12,000 square metres of land, the tower-like structure perches on the rocky slopes, overlooking a series of seven terraces and providing guests with an extraordinary panoramic view. It was discovered and restructured by Elisabetta Vanuzzo and Gianluca Spolverato, founders of BE. Your Private View, a new form of hospitality that offers visitors a private view of exclusive destinations.

Seven different gardens accompany guests from the house down to the sea in a stunning design by landscape architect Marco Bay. Taking a ‘gentle’ approach that does not overly impact the unspoiled natural setting, the terrace structure is a nod to traditional Italian landscaping and the use of local stone and native plants was fundamental in creating harmony with the surroundings.

The outdoor spaces are an extension of the interior rooms: each with its own distinct identity, surrounded by nature and illuminated by the Flos Outdoor selection. Flos’s partnership with the Be.YourprivateView stems from a shared respect for the environment and the desire to partner with iconic Italian brands that promote responsible design and low-impact production processes.

The interior design carefully preserves much of the original architecture while adopting a contemporary and design-driven style, strongly inspired by the local area. Carefully curated lighting by Flos illuminates the hyper-minimal and organic lines of the interior and helps to create a visual continuity between inside and out.
