"The Emi light is a new lighting expression that combines several invisible sources to create a paradoxical experience: light from shadow. We really like the intriguing contrast of the Emi light, which combines a deep, dark matt body that appears to be a void with powerful invisible sources that provide efficient and effective illumination to both the ceiling and the floor. Emi is a silhouette made of shadow that provides light."

The shadow that casts a light

Even when on, EMI remains mysterious. The space is illuminated to magnificent visual effect without revealing the source as the light emerges from the central body and never directly engages the eye. The result is an extremely comfortable lighting solution.

Revolution through repetition

Spaces often need multiple sources of light, and while sometimes diversity is a good option, sometimes you just need the opposite: multiple light sources that iterate the same language, offering geometry through repetition, alignment, symmetry. Emi has this ability to be used in a patterned manner, as a new kind of architectural source.

EMI on the Floor and Table

Emi Floor

The floor version seems to float in the air, disencumbered by a stem that connects to the base. The two-way lighting offered by this model is highly adapted to contemporary life: the upper light is powerful enough to illuminate the entire space without dazzling, thanks to a specific beam conformation. The lower light is soft and subdued, perfect for use with other sources such as a television or appliance. The table version operates in the same way but is smaller in size and fits perfectly on any horizontal surface.

Emi Table

The table version works similarly to the floor version, it is small in size and fits perfectly and discreetly on any horizontal surface."

A sculptural colour palette

The palette of available colours was commissioned specifically by Erwan Bouroullec, enveloping EMI design in four stylish shades that add a magical, sculptural presence to this “architectural reed”.

Handcrafted cast iron base

The technological heart of Emi combines with an exquisitely crafted base made of cast iron. Imperfections present on the surface of the base are the result of a manual production process that makes each product unique.

Sustainable and Future-proof design

Spare parts are easily available to facilitate maintenance or replacement of the lens units. Each optical unit can be replaced individually for ease of maintenance, while the absence of glues and soldering simplifies disassembly and the proper disposal of individual parts at the end of product life.
