We spend more hours in the office than in our homes, how is this affecting your projects? How do you envision the workplace of the future?
We spend more hours in our office than in our home, but we must identify how the concept of our office and our home is changing, and the concept of a traditional desk office or a traditional table for design is completely different. The light world, somehow, must adapt to all of this but our mission is to understand the change and work together with technical solutions and design solutions to create a new light world.

Is technology changing your approach to lighting design?
In the retail environment, smart control systems are entering now in a very diffused way in all the kind of retail environments, but it really depends on the retail solutions because we always try to be smart in different ways. Now, saying “smart”, we intend a system that automatically, like a sort of A.I., understand how people enter, how the flux of the people is inside a shop.
Traditional lighting design has always thought about this topic too, it’s true, but now a technology control system can reach a higher level, a very advanced level of interaction. I think this is a very important point, I wouldn’t define it as fundamental but it’s a very important point.
In the retail environment, do you consider the smart control system a fundamental aspect nowadays?
Technology is not changing our approach to lighting design, technology is changing the possibility of lighting design. The great evolution of technology is a new possibility for expanding solutions, Flos is working in a very good way, with very good solutions between design and technology.
That’s why we like to work with them, because they invented things that really respect my idea of representing our aspirations, sometimes, in doing something that puts design and technology really together on the same binary, I would say.

When working with Flos design, we always select some products that have this characteristic between technology and emotional solution, we love to work with Flos, we like to select this kind of products in our design, because it’s something about our DNA, and it’s something about our style and our philosophy in lighting projects.
