Title 24 JA8 Compliant Lighting
The California Energy Commission's (CEC) Title 24 stands at the forefront of energy efficiency standards in the US. This Energy code, which is updated every three years, sets rigorous guidelines for building energy performance. The latest iteration, the 2022 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, came into effect in January 2023.
Within this code, the Joint Appendix 8 (JA8) requirements address high-efficacy light sources for residential light sources. These include a minimum efficacy of 45 lumens per watt, high color rendering (CRI ≥ 90), specific color temperatures between 2700K and 4000K, dimmability down to 10%, long rated life with minimum of 15,000 hours for LEDs, low flicker, and more.
