Floor lamp emitting indirect light from a telescopic headlamp mounted on a hexagonal nickel-plated brass height-adjustable stem and a base of angle iron and formed steel. Fishing rod rings connect the power cable with electronic dimmer to the visible transformer at the base.

Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, this inventive lamp is a perfect example of their ready-made design philosophy. Originally inspired by a car headlight, it cleverly repurposes fishing rod rings to guide the power cable and a boat cleat to keep it neatly coiled. This playful fusion of industrial materials and ingenuity also inspired its name, a nod to the word ‘toy’. A design icon, Toio has won multiple awards and is part of the permanent collection at MoMA.
