The recent exhibition "Botticelli tells a story. Paintings of Renaissance masters from the collection of Accademia Carrara" was a masterpiece not solely of art but architecture and exhibition design. A contemporary architecture that celebrated the grand interiors of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the paintings exhibited and Renaissance Art.
Nodding to Renaissance ideals, the historic ceiling offers a daytime view of the sky, while the new monumental form in the centre of the chamber reflects the night sky. The effect is a blurring of the boundaries between the old and new, creating an ideal backdrop for nine masterpieces of Renaissance art, including Sandro Botticelli’s The Story of Virginia.
The overarching vision for this exhibition demanded a holistic experience. Flos crafted a custom lighting design tailored to the architectural nuances of this unique location, celebrating the paintings while creating an atmosphere for calm and leisurely contemplation. Discreet, indirect ambience lighting is achieved with Camera 90 Optics while the beauty of the masterpieces exhibited is revealed by Spot Magnet.
